Wedding Showers

This past weekend were the showers for both the weddings I'm in this fall.  I was throwing Rachel's shower on Saturday and then I found out Julia's shower was going to be on Sunday!  What a crazy weekend!

I really wish I had taken more pictures, but both showers were wonderful.  I did a beach themed shower for Rachel.  My goal was to keep as much of the food, drinks, and decorations as "beachy" as possible.  I had Goldfish crackers being served from a pail with a shovel for a scoop, and I used a shell-shaped kiddie pool as a cooler.  I put it on the table and filled it with ice and bottled water and soda.  One of my favorite parts was this:

Aren't they cute?  They're cups of vanilla pudding, with graham cracker crumbs for sand, a Teddy Graham, a piece of Fruit by the Foot for a beach towel, and an umbrella pick.  =)

I had a lot of help from my mom, my mother-in-law, and Rachel's sister-in-law decorating the night before and then also help from them the morning of (Dave came, too, and blew up balloons and picked up the ice).  I didn't realize how much work goes into planning a shower!  It was worth it, though.  I received lots of compliments and Rachel had a great day. =)

Sunday was Julia's shower.  It was given by her maids of honor and her mom.  It was a looong drive (about 3 hours), but the shower was really nice.  Then we went to go see the apartment Ben and Julia will be moving into.  We helped them move some stuff in, too.

I really wish I had taken more pictures of the whole weekend.  I was so exhausted, though (like I said, throwing a shower is a lot of work!  Plus, we had just thrown Dave's parents a surprise anniversary party the weekend before!), that I guess I just didn't think about it enough.  Other people took pictures, though, so maybe I can get a hold of theirs.
